Safe at School® is pleased to offer its updated Diabetes Medical Management Plan (DMMP) for use by schools and pediatric diabetes health care providers nationwide. This new fillable form will allow for a more standardized and efficient completion of student diabetes care orders through expanded options for prescribers to tailor care instructions to the individual student, providing greater clarity for those charged with the care of children with diabetes in the school setting.

This training program has been specifically designed to prepare you to assist persons with diabetes to receive their subcutaneous (SQ) insulin when a licensed nurse is not available to administer the insulin. In order for a registered nurse to appropriately and safely delegate the task of insulin administration by the SQ route the nurse must ensure that unlicensed persons complete this training, pass the South Dakota Board of Nursing’s Unlicensed Diabetes Aide exam, can safely perform diabetes care tasks, and finally be registered as an Unlicensed Diabetes Aide by the SD Board of Nursing.
Follow T1Ds advocates for schools to use Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) caregiver apps, enabling real-time remote monitoring and audible alerts for timely intervention to prevent a medical emergency. Follow T1Ds also advocates for schools to follow parental input in managing T1D, as empowered by doctor's orders, ensuring personalized, timely care that complies with medical directives.
